Joan Mullally has been doing business online for more than 25 years. She has been a pioneer in the fields of online publishing, marketing, and ecommerce, particularly in the health and wellness space.

Joan is the author of more than 150 guides designed to help her readers make the most of the opportunities the Internet offers for starting and running a successful business.

A student and later teacher-trainee of Pulitzer Prize winner Frank McCourt (Angela’s Ashes), she has always appreciated the power of the word. She has transformed from college professor to online marketing and digital publishing specialist. She has used her knowledge for successful SEO and PPC campaigns, and marketing copy that converts well.

She has also done pretty much every single job in publishing in the newspaper, magazine, printed book and digital publishing spaces, from reporter and columnist to layout and design, to chief editor for Radiology Daily and digital producer for WebMD’s Medscape, their continuing medical education division.

One computer science class at NYU was enough to spark her fascination with all things digital. “I could see the future in an instant as soon as I sat down at my first computer and began to learn how to use it. The difference between the ‘haves’ and ‘have-nots’ was no longer going to be based on money, but access to such powerful new technologies.  The power of publishing in particular could be taken out of the hands of the few and given to the many, so their voices could be heard too.”

In her spare time, she works with adult literacy, animal fostering and rescue, and teaching computer skills to women.
