Cinnamon Yam Bake is a a perfect tasty treat for Thanksgiving without a lot of sugar.
2 (15 3/4 oz.) cans of yams, drained, or 2 pounds of sweet potatoes, boiled and peeled
1 egg
1/4 C butter, melted
1/4 C brown sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 Grany Smoth apple, thinly sliced
brown sugar and more cinnamon for dusting
- Place the yams in a large mixing bowl and mash with a potato
masher or fork. - Break the egg into the yams.
- Pour in 1/4 C of the melted butter.
- Sprinkle in the sugar and cinnamon.
- Mix well with a wooden spoon until all the ingredients are
incorporated together well. - Bring the oven temperature up to 350 degrees.
- Spray a square baking pan generously with a non stick cooking
spray. - Spread the yam mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- Top with the apple slices.
- Sprinkle with the brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Bake in the oven until set and the apple slices are your
desired doneness. You can leave them crisp or caramelize them,
so 20 to 30 minutes total bake time should be fine.
Serve on the side with turkey or use as a dessert like sweet potato pie.
