Getting to Know Twitter 4
Pros and Cons of Twitter
For many, whether they are looking for friends, clients, or someone to help them out with a problem or workload, getting in touch with others is important. With Twitter it has never been easier!
Just keep in mind, that because it is so easy, it can become addictive. Twitter can be a useful tool for staying in touch with people, and for marketing your business by spreading the word about what you are up to.
But it can also bite into your time and your core business if you Tweet too much, or just for the sake of it.
On the plus side, it doesn’t take as long to tweet as it does to blog!
Another potential drawback to Twitter is that, like all social media, you can hear negative as well as positive things, and might end up having to do ‘damage control’ because it is so public.
Keep in mind that more people will complain online (it must be something about that lovely anonymity which causes people to flame each other!) than they will give you positive feedback, but this too can be of value to grow and expand your business in the right direction.
It is also a great tool to find out what your competition is up to, and what new products or services you might consider offering based on what people express as their genuine needs and concerns.
If you offer a solution, they will come. So if you create a perception through Twitter that you are a ‘go to’ person, you will be able to expand your user base and business with just a few tweets!
