Could Starting a Direct Sales Business Be Right For You?

Learn how to grab you share of the direct sales industry and market your business effectively.

DirectSalesStartUpDirect sales is a $132.5 billion industry, with more than 87 million sales representatives all over the world selling high-quality products that have become household names. If you’ve ever heard of Avon or Tupperware, you will know that direct sales can be a fun and successful way to make money in your spare time. But it isn’t for everyone. Some people will just view it as a fun and interesting hobby and miss out on the true potential for starting and running their own successful business.

Others might be really keen to run their own company, but not have a clear idea of some of the most effective ways to market their business to keep the profits coming in. Some people are shy. Others are born networkers. Still others are trying to juggle career, family and a new business all at the same time. But despite all this, it IS possible to make money with direct sales provided you are willing to learn, and take action with what you learn.

Your success or failure really depends on YOU. You need to think about:

*what company to work for
*the best ways to stay organized
*how to be more confident when communicating with people
*how to manage your time
*how to set up a productive home office to run your business efficiently
*how to set realistic income targets every month, the hit or even surpass them.

One of the reason why direct selling is such a great opportunity is access to top-quality sales and marketing material that you will be provided with when you start as a direct seller. After all, if you don’t make money, they don’t either.

Another key reason for being a direct seller is that you can get commission on anything family and friends buy. And if you buy and use the items yourself, or give them as gifts, this is an instant discount that can save you a great deal of money every holiday season. It can also win you awards, prizes and even bigger discounts depending on your level of sales.

You will also get free samples to try, new items at introductory prices and closeout bargains when lines come to an end. If you love to shop, being a direct seller can save you a lot of money even if you aren’t throwing parties every night of the week.

Speaking of parties, that’s another fun aspect of being a direct seller. Enjoy yourself with friends and a widening circle of customers/friends, and make money at the same time. Awesome!

Even more awesome, you can recruit some of them to sell as well, and get a share of their profits too. Support each other in your efforts and earn money from everyone downstream of you.

Direct sales can also be a real family business. We both got started when we were about 5 or 6 years old and discovered the joys of Avon and all sorts of luscious smelling toiletries. We don’t sell them any more because they and Mary Kay have both gone back to testing on animals. But in both our cases, they helped pay for college, travel and more. We learned as kids, and taught our children as well.

Marketing is tough in any business, but just because there are others in your area selling the same products does not mean you should be discouraged. When the going gets tough, the tough get going with their marketing.

If you are interested in starting your own business in order to earn extra income and even gain financial freedom and become self-employed, see if Direct Sales is right for you and your family.
