Natural Skin Care that Works

Skin care should not be complicated but it should definitely work to help improve the appearance of your skin. There are many natural products you probably already have right in your own kitchen that can help you care for your skin no matter what your age or skin type.

Natural skin care products you make yourself at home can cleanse and tone well without any harsh chemicals, additives, preservatives or other potentially irritating or even harmful ingredients.

Herbs and natural substances like oatmeal, milk and lemon juice have been used for thousands of years as effective cleansing tools for the skin. It has only been within the past hundred years or so that women have turned away from their home beauty treatments remedies to commercial products, spending more money they have to and sometimes ending up with more unhealthy skin that before.

Some of these commercial soaps and creams are full of perfume, alcohol and other drying ingredients that can cause irritation and redness, while others are so full of oil that they block pores and can lead to acne.

To be sure of what you are putting on your skin, it is time to get back to basics and begin making your own beauty products, especially if you have sensitive skin. Plain pure liquid Castile soap can remove dirt and grime without stripping skin. Gentle toners such as chamomile tea applied to the face with a cotton square can help clean pores and soothe redness and dryness.

Lemon juice is a great astringent for people with oily skin, or witch hazel. A couple of cucumbers placed over the eyes for 10 minutes a day can reduce puffiness and diminish fine lines and wrinkles.

For those with oily or combination skin a couple of drops of tea tree oil on a pimple can help dry it out and heal it rapidly. Tea tree oil also has great anti-bacterial properties and is a handy treatment for severe acne, and diaper rash for your baby.

People with dry skin should look for rich moisturizing creams that incorporate soothing ingredients like chamomile or frankincense, in order to enhance the skin’s suppleness and elasticity and prevent wrinkles from forming.

These are just a few ways to get started with effective, all-natural skin care in order to protect your skin, improve your appearance and save money. Doing research on natural treatments for your own particular skin type and any skin problems you have, such as acne or dry skin, can help you look your best without spending a lot or using any harsh chemicals.
