Simple Skin Care for All Types of Skin

Good skin care does not need to be complicated or cost a fortune. No matter what your age or skin type, there are a number of tried and tested ways to care for your skin naturally without needing to buy a range of (expensive) commercially-produced skin care products that can actually do more harm than good to your skin if you are not careful.

Despite all the ads you see in ladies’ magazines and on television, you don’t need a medicine cabinet full of dozens of products. Most skin types only need a gentle cleanser and a moisturizer. Pure Castile soap in its liquid form can cleanse your skin gently, without a lot of additives and preservatives.

Your daily moisturizer and any foundation you wear should have SPF to protect from the harmful rays of the sun.

The products you choose should also take into account your skin type and age. If your face feels tight and dry, and has red or flaky patches, you probably have dry skin. In this case you will want to use gentle cleansers and more powerful moisturizing agents. Add Omega-3 oils to your daily diet to nourish from the inside out and see the difference in the smoothness and suppleness of your skin.

If your skin is shiny all over or feels slippery on the forehead, nose and chin area, with red bumps or pustules, you clearly have oily skin. You will want to leave just enough oil to keep your skin supple and elastic, but not so much that it can clog pores and lead to pimples.

Then there is combination skin, with dry patches in some places, such as the cheeks, and oily areas such as the forehead, nose and chin. Keeping your skin clean in the oily areas and perhaps using a mild astringent can help acne from spreading and avoid irritating the dry skin.

Then there is mature skin, which can be prone to dryness, fine lines and wrinkles. Using moisturizing agents appropriate to your skin type on a regular basis, and watching your diet can help rejuvenate skin. So can staying hydrated by making a point of drinking at least 64 ounces of fresh water each day.

Acne-prone and mature skins are unique and will usually benefit from special treatment without you having to spend a lot of money. Just be sure to use a mild cleanser for washing and moisturizer that is tailored to meet the specific needs of your skin type.

Giving your skin the best care possible is simple once you understand your type of skin and the effects of aging on the skin. It can even be fun as you create your own all-natural homemade beauty treatments in order to care for your skin and watch your appearance improve.
