Anyone who thinks they are ‘too old to work out’ should look no further than the life story of the world-famous fitness guru Jack LaLanne.
Jack LaLanne, who lived to 96 (1914 – 2011) until he died of the complications of the flu, was one of the most famous and prolific fitness gurus of all time. He is the perfect example of what one can do no matter one’s age.
He was in his mid-thirties and completely out of shape when he discovered fitness. It literally save his life. Realizing this, he decided to pass on all he had learned in order to help others. Here are just a few of his achievements, many done when a lot of people would have consider him to be ‘getting old’ or even ‘over the hill’.
• When he was 42 years old, he set the pushups world record by doing 1,000 pushups in 23 minutes.
• He swam from Alcatraz Island to Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, CA while handcuffed and towing a 1,000-pound boat at the age of 60!
• On his 70th birthday, he swam 1.5 miles while handcuffed, shackled, AND towing 70 rowboats holding 70 people!
Impressed?
Now, most of us will not, nor do we need to, achieve such feats. The point is that age is just a number. He was able to achieve these feats and others because he adopted a fitness mindset and spent the rest of his life committed to being the best he could be through fitness.
Imagine what we can do if we just get started, even if we are over 50, and work out a fraction of the time that he did.
You are guaranteed to feel better no matter what activity you undertake as long as you start safely and sensibly.
Let’s meet your instructors first, get your downloads for the course, and then look at the many benefits of exercise no matter what your age.
