New Year, New You-Personal and Professional Transformation 101
Another year over, another set of resolutions. But how many of us who make resolutions about health, wealth, career, and our personal lives actually ever succeed in our goals? If you set resolutions but drop the ball on them each year, try something new this year, and see how you can transform your personal and professional life.
No matter what your goal, the secret is to evaluate where you are, set the goal, and track the goal. You can also transform your life through countering self-defeating behaviors with more positive and productive ones.
If you’ve been struggling this year in one or more areas of your life, it’s time to take action to become your best self and live your best life, starting NOW.

Janus, the Roman god who gives his name to the month of January, is depicted as having 2 faces. One looks back at the old year, while the other looks forward to the new. This is the model we will be using in this guide.
As we always teach our students, start from where you are right now, rather than where you wish you were or want to be, Evaluating the past year is the first action step to making the decision that things might have gone well, but could go even better in certain areas of your life you wish to transform.
You also need to start where you are because your goals need to be your own in order for them to have any real meaning for you and make you feel motivated each morning when you get out of bed.
Often, one of the main reasons we lack motivation is because we are not being our best self or working towards our best life. We are doing what others tell us to do, boss, parents, spouse, and so on. Yet all the while, a little voice is whispering to us that if only we had the courage, we could try X or become Y.
Often, you might be taking a path less chosen, and the route might seem scary, but chances are there are trailblazers along the way you can learn from. When we first started working online as authors and coaches back in the mid-1990s, there were very few people who had a clue about the Internet, let alone how to make money on it. But we knew that we could help an even wider audience than we were doing with our teaching, coaching students from all over the world on the skills they wanted to learn in order to build a better life for themselves.
Now there are college degrees for the kinds of things we learned by ourselves from scratch, but as you will discover when you go through this guide, personal experience is often the best teacher. What works well for one person may not suit you, and vice versa.
So let’s get started by evaluating how last year went, so we can formulate some new goals and resolutions for this new year.
