Today we want to talk about being honest with yourself about your eating habits in order to make positive changes in your life.

We humans sure do love to justify our behavior.

This is a natural (and lazy) way to make allowances for actions and habits which may not be in our best interests. Examples include putting off adopting a clean eating lifestyle because we decide it would be too expensive. In fact, it can actually be less expensive than your current nutritionally-poor diet.

We convince ourselves that clean eating takes too much time and effort, so we gorge on unhealthy fast foods instead. The truth is that clean eating takes minimal time and effort once you know how.

You may not be consciously lying about the quantities and types of food you are eating. You have a very busy life. You can pop an unhealthy treat into your mouth and simply forget about it later. That is why keeping a food journal is a great idea. Every time you drink or eat anything, write it down. This will stop your over-loaded mind from forgetting the items that might be sabotaging your clean eating efforts.

Being honest with yourself also means understanding that you are just beginning. Don’t beat yourself up if you slip and backslide. You are only starting to de-toxify your body of the impurities and chemicals it is used to. .

Give yourself credit for your efforts, keep an honest and accurate food journal, and your clean eating journey will be more successful. You DON’T have to be perfect. You just have to do your best.
