< ![endif]–> Google has two advertising programs:
Adsense: for people who have a site, and wish to show ads on it in order to make money.
Adwords: for people who wish to drive traffic to their site, in order to sell a product or service, or generate leads for their site in the form of newsletter subscribers.
Both Adsense and Adwords are open to anyone who has a Google Gmail account (which also comes with a load of other free Google services, so it is handy to have).
Both can be a valuable part of your internet marketing strategy, in order to make money from your site.
And both use keywords, with the best results coming from highly-targetted niche topic areas, which often have the most motivated buyers or browsers.
For example, a person who types in “Bichon Frise”, is very different from the person who types in “Bichon Frise grooming tips DVD”. This person is much closer to making a purchasing decision than the person who typed in the more general term.
In the next series of articles, we will be explaining the differences between Adsense and Adwords, so you can be clear about what each entails, and which is right for you.
