The Pillars of Confidence

Learn the essentials on how to be more confident.

Confidence can make a huge difference in your life …if you have it. If you lack it, you will likely struggle across different areas of your life. Confidence is something that a lot of people lack, but luckily it is a trait that you can foster. If you think you might be lacking confidence, you can use one of these tips to help:

  • Call Out Your Negative Thoughts

Negative self-talk and confidence aren’t the same things, but they do go hand in hand. Monitor how you talk to yourself and try to replace negative thoughts as soon as you think of them.

  • Improve Your Social Skills

We typically need to call upon our confidence in the presence of others. If you feel more comfortable around people, you will naturally feel more confident. You can find plenty of online resources that will help you with things like “public speaking” and “making small talk.”

  • Set a Goal and Achieve It

When you set a goal and achieve it, you will instantly boost your confidence. You don’t need to think of a considerable dream here either. Set a simple goal to start. When you reach that one, use the momentum to set a slightly more exciting goal.

  • Embrace Exercise

Exercise and a healthy diet are essential for all of us. This is especially true when you consider confidence. There are few things as reaffirming as a good workout. You will feel more confident when you know your exercise needs are being met.

  • Double Down on Your Strengths

Stop fretting about your weaknesses and start thinking about your strengths. If you think about it, you will undoubtedly come up with some things you are good at. Dive into those things. Instead of being good at them, strive to be great.

  • Celebrate The Small Wins

A small win is still a win. Don’t ignore all of the small battles that you win daily. These can all add up to significant results in the long term. You might feel silly rewarding yourself for doing something trivial, but don’t let that stop you. After all, confidence is really just feeling better about yourself.

  • Keep a Success Log

A great way to remind yourself of just how powerful you are is to keep a success log. It is so easy to get started too. You can use a physical notebook or one of the thousand notebook apps online. Just take a second to jot down each of your successes – big and small.

  • Take Action

Are you feeling unconfident about a particular area of your life? If so – take action. It doesn’t have to be huge, but take a single step towards addressing the issue. By taking action, you are going to feel more confident.

  • Avoid The Doubters and Naysayers

Dealing with your own negative talk is tough enough, you don’t have any time to deal with other peoples’. Limit contact with the people who are continually talking down about you or doubting all of your choices.
